Joy's Journey

Joy Avery Melville recognizes that she is called to be the author that God intended her to be, to share stories that will lead people to hope, healing, and an increased awareness of Jesus Christ. Her writing journey began in eighth grade in 1967 with a dream of writing historical romance novels.

Embracing a change in Genre, Joy was given a vision with eyes to see the hearts of people who silently suffer. Her stories have become a testament to redemption, restoration, trauma, faith, and the presence of God in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Her books will be a haven to readers who seek stories that are genuine and based on grace and spiritual renewal.

Joy lives in the area just outside of Schoolcraft, Michigan, with her longtime husband. Her books have been inspired by the community that she loves to call home. Joy was named ACFW’s 2015 Mentor of the Year, the 2020 and 2021 winner of the Angel Book Award in Contemporary Fiction, and a finalist in the 2021 Selah Awards.

Joy enjoys connecting with readers and invites you to reach out to her through her website and newsletter.
